"It's my birthday present to me! I'm SO happy." - Kuzco, The Emperor's New Groove

I decided this would be cool for my birthday. No pressure, though. A "Happy Birthday" on Facebook will also suffice.

$5+whatever stamps and envelopes cost+ my address (21401 Big Basin Way, Boulder Creek, CA 95006)=

You helping me in a very small but wonderful way to get to India this winter.

Cost of my trip is going to be about $2500. Tentative dates are November 28th-December 25th. I would REALLY like to spend Christmas with the adorable Indian children who call me "auntie" so I can see the looks on their faces when Little Flock gives them their new dress clothes and jewelry. They LOVE Christmas.

If you don't want to do this you can still give me your recycling. I'll be recycling as much as I can until my feet touch Indian soil.

WORD.

Kind of like framing the first buck I make opening my gluten-free donut a-frame shop. Okay, not really. But still thrilling.

How to Get Back To India.

I have this crazy idea. And I've already started implementing it so don't try to tell me it can't work.

I've been scrounging around like a hobo collecting bottles and taking them to the recycling place in Soquel. I'm hoping to raise a large chunk of money to get back to India in December and work for about a month at Little Flock Children's Home. You can make fun of me because I only make about $5-10 bucks a pop, OR YOU CAN HELP ME.

If you want to help (and you are in the Santa Cruz Area), let me know and start setting aside your bottles for me. Sort them and take the lids off everything if you'd like, or just give them to me as is. I can pick them up from you and do all that stuff.

If you want to help me (and you are not in Santa Cruz or, OKAY, even the Bay Area), consider taking your recycling once (twice, three times!) to your local center and setting aside the proceeds for me. I understand that this takes time, so NO PRESSURE.

Another option is that you can email me your address at erinmhennessy@gmail.com and if/when I start to send out support letters I can send one your way.

Last of all (and mostly irrelevant to this post except it involves my time past time in India), this is what happens when you give Satish your camera and tell him to take a picture of something. I guess I'm glad I have a picture of me in India. I think I was saying, "NO, take a picture of something el-[CLICK]."

Something I Experienced First-Hand...

In Chennai, there was an Indian lady that worked in our dental clinic who was expecting her first child. She never went into detail on this subject, but one day we were talking about baby names and she mentioned that it was illegal to know the sex of your child when you had an ultra-sound.

"Weird," I thought to myself.

Well, here's why.

It makes a lot more sense to me now. And breaks my heart a bit. I am a girl, after all. This fact alone affects and connects me to this issue.

Practical Ways to Earn My Way Back to India.

#456.3: Start recycling bottles at Nob Hill Grocery. So far I've made about $6.00 towards the return trip I hope to make in December.
